Domestic violence abuse can take many forms, including physical, verbal, emotional and financial control. Abuse does not discriminate between class, race, age, disability, sexual orientation or education.
At Wendy Hopkins Family Law Practice, our team of dedicated specialist family solicitors can help you to decide on the most appropriate course of action, and provide you with expert legal advice and support through every step of the process.
Physical violence is a criminal offence. However, every situation is different, and police intervention can often be inappropriate and/or inadequate, depending on your particular case. Therefore, a civil injunction may be necessary.
A non-molestation order against an associated person can be applied for to prohibit further violence and domestic abuse. Orders can also be made requiring the perpetrator to vacate the family home. These orders are called occupation orders, and both types of injunction can be applied for to protect adults and children. These orders can be made on an emergency basis.
Whatever the situation, we will guide you through every step of the process and give you open, honest advice on the most appropriate way forward.
