David James - Director

David James is a Director of Wendy Hopkins Family Law Practice, and one of Wales’ most senior family law practitioners.

Since qualifying in 1991, he has specialised in family law. He has been an Advanced Member of the Law Society Family Law Panel since 2002.

David specialises in the financial issues arising out of divorce and cohabitation disputes. He has gained wide experience of high net asset matters, including cases involving family businesses, taxation and pension issues, and those requiring forensic accounting and analysis.

David also deals with private children matters, including Children Act applications relating to where children should live and time spent with the other parent.

David is listed in the Legal 500 UK as an elite “Leading Individual” in Family Law and  "is known for handling high-value cases with a particular focus on business ownership and pension sharing issues”. He regularly contributes family law news articles for the Western Mail and Wales Online, and appears frequently on TV and radio.

David is a former Trustee of Relate Cymru, and has provided assistance to the Cardiff Family Contact Centre.
